With the rebuild of Hurricane Mk I R4118 completed at the end of 2004, it made its first public appearances in 2005. These shots were taken at air shows which included displays at Duxford, Dunsfold, Waddington, Lasham, Little Gransden, Biggin Hill and Shoreham.

R4118, the sole surviving flying Hurricane from the Battle of Britain, will be seen at a number of venues during the year. The highlights will be formation flying appearances at Cosford and Shoreham with the newly restored Mk 1A Spitfire AR213 from Bianchi Aviation. What a sight to see the original marks of Hurricane and Spitfire flying together in celebration of what they achieved during the Battle.

In addition to Peter Vacher’s book ‘Hurricane R4118’, now in its fourth printing (available from Amazon), there is now a NEW DVD, also entitled ‘Hurricane R4118’. It runs for over 90 minutes and contains footage of the aircraft’s recovery from India, a detailed look at its restoration and interviews with people who found it, restored it and flew it in the Battle of Britain. The DVD is available from Intelligent Television and Video, ITVV House, Norwood Street, Scarborough, North Yorkshire, YO12 7EQ, 0800 137423. If you are interested in Hurricanes and the Battle of Britain, you will find this fascinating.
